Full Cassette Unit Service Kit for the Amstrad CPC 464 Computer, complete with Dive & Tape Counter Belts and Idler Tyre.

Please note - the belts in this kit ARE NOT suitable for the CPC 464 PLUS model. A different kit is available in our shop for the CPC 464+ model.

A common problem with the Amstrad CPC 464 these days is poor loading performance from the built-in cassette deck. This is often due to stretching and wear of the tape mechanism drive belt, a split or worn idler tyre, or a dirty read/write head.

The old belts stretch and harden over time and start to slip causing loading problems. Also, when stood unused for many years, the belts also develop a "kink" where the belt has rested unmoving over the capstan. This kink becomes a permanent feature in the belt causing it to jump when the drive is used again.

The idler tyre is a small but crucial part of the CPC 464 cassette mechanism. If the idler tyre is worn or broken, the tape will not be pulled past the head at a constant rate (if at all) which results in very poor loading performance and "chewed up" tapes.

This is a complete service kit for the CPC 464, with new cassette drive belt, tape counter belt, idler tyre, head cleaning solution, a special pointed, non-abrasive precision cleaning swab for the read/write heads and general swab sticks to clean the cassette transport rollers and posts.

All you need (except basic tools) to service the cassette deck of your 464 and restore it's original performance.

The belts supplied are brand-new replacements, as close as is possible to the design and size of the originals, but made from modern, more resilient materials. They have been tested extensively with this machine and work perfectly.

Manufactured in Germany, they are of premium quality. They are not the cheap, terrible quality things from the Chinese belt bundles so widely available now.
